Salt Lake City was not what I expected. The city was so clean, the downtown area is very easy to get around, and there is a nightlife.

Peery Hotel
The Peery Hotel is an historic hotel decorated with antiques and elegance. It's older, but manages to keep up appearances. The rooms are a little small, but can be called "cozy". There is a step up into the bathroom, so this does not help for nighttime bathroom visits. It was clean and the service was acceptable.

Restaurant | "The New Yorker"

It's easy to see why Robert Redford and other celebrities frequent this restaurant. It offers specialty dishes and an extensive wine list. Very good food and excellent service. This is one of the classiest places to dine in SLC.

The Red DoorBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "The Red Door - Martini Bar"

Once you are behind the Red Door, you are transported to a world unlike any found in Salt Lake City. You sit down on a leather couch and wait for the martini menu to be placed into your awaiting hand. There are other drinks besides martinis served here, but you must try the signature, Red Door Martini. These aren't your average drink. They are big ass martinis. On Saturdays you can listen to a live band while chilling in a corner. I left with only one question in my mind, "Why is there a stuffed monkey with lit candles hanging on the wall?"

Getting ThereBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

Salt Lake City
When flying into SLC, you will pass over irrigation circles that look like contemporary art rugs gone bad from an episode of 'Trading Spaces.'

Salt Lake itself is 100 miles long and wide. The marshes surrounding it and the mountain ranges are reminescent of Lord of the Rings.

It is a higher elevation for some, the air is thin and the throat will get dry quickly.
