When we planned a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame never did we imagine the town of Cooperstown to be so special. This little town is packed with great things to do.

We came from Virginia and the scenery was wonderful.
One of the most memorable memories was walking through the exhibits of the Hall and realizing how much baseball has been part of my life. There were so many memories there that were special to a young girl in 1969 (Mets!) to a mature woman in 1985 (Royals).

My nephew is an avid golfer, so we played two courses. Both right on Ostego Lake.

The Main street baseball card shops were a blast. We found several cards from 1950's players that played minor league baseball with my dad.

The name escapes me but I remember one evening going for ice cream at an old-fashion ice cream parlor.

Quick Tips:

Bring comfortable shoes because Main Street is best explored on foot.

Take a cruise on Ostego Lake.

Best Way To Get Around:

The Otesaga

Hotel

The resort has excellent views
We were upgraded to a superior room and it was excellent. Very spacious and the view of the lake was very nice. One of my favorite things of The Otesaga is the Lakeside Veranda. Here you can overlook the pool or Ostego Lake. The service and personnel at the resort are 5 star!

Funniest moment was when I asked the waitress for grits at breakfast. She looked at me and said 'if you tell me what it is I'll ask the kitchen'.

This was a great restaurant to go with a teenager. It has fun food (burgers, breakfast, ribs, etc.)

The Home Plate is the restaurants store which is loaded with memorabilia, t-shirts, mugs, autographed baseballs. Great place to let the kids explore.

Fore!
The day we went it had been raining for two days prior so the course was a bit soggy. I was doing the driving as my nephew played. The pro saw him and came over and played the last three holes with him. Everyone here was wonderful. The course was established in 1894 and runs right up to Ostego Lake.

This is a challenging course that has lakeside holes (17 & 18th). The two holes are excellent. The fairways are contoured around Ostego Lake and make for great play. Several of the holes are much higher in elevation, which offer a wonderful view of the lake and mountains.

Activity

This place was so much fun. We found a few cards to add to our collection, including some from the 50's & 60's. There are also hats, sportwear, autographed items. They have special autographing sessions especially during the Induction weekend. The staff was very knowledgeable. They prices on the cards were average to a bit higher than average.

1969 Champions
Be sure you start your visit with the movie and then wander throught the exhibits. Everywhere there will be something that makes you say 'Wow, look at this'. As a KC Royals (Brett) fan, I was determined to spend a lot of time near the 1976 to 1985 exhibits. I grew up with my dad playing baseball, later umpiring up to Minor League level, so the Hall was a complete thrill for me. I finally got to experience baseball like I had heard from him and friends for years. He played back in the 50's, so now I got to see what the use to talk about! The uniforms, the bats, the gloves and the deeds of the players. I just wish I could have touched some of the most famous items.

The Plaque room with all the members of the Hall is so cool. First you want to find the ones you came to see but soon you'll just explore and let them all come to you.

Here is the place for a baseball fan. Have a custom bat made for yourself. They can even have you autograph added onto it like the pro models. We left here with 4 bats ordered. Thankfully they ship!!!
