If you are an avid amusement park attender, this park may not meet your standards. It has a few really great rides, but there are only a few of them. This is a great park for the four-state area if you don't want to drive to far to a St. Louis, Dallas or Kansas City. There are things to do for people of all ages, but your selection is somewhat limited:

For kids just a little taller (40 inches) you qualify to ride of some of the mild roller coasters and water rides like Lost River, Fire in the Hole, and Thunderation. These are pretty good rides for this age group, but maybe a little bit of a drag for the older kids. My 5-year old loves them!
Older kids and adventurous adults: There really is one good ride that competes with the big parks (6 flags-ish) and that is Wildfire. It really is a great steel coaster that will get even the bravest's pulse rate up! I've also read some local articles that the park is looking to expand and put in some additional fast coasters. That's good news for us!
Older folks / non-ride people: Silver Dollar City is a place that has attractions for all ages, even the elderly! There is such an assortment of craft shops it's amazing. Sometimes I question if the park was created for the rides or for the craft shops. Also, the park has seasonal festivals that are amazing: craft season (real big in this part of the country), multi-cultural events, and a huge Christmas Holiday lights festival that pulls in the crowds for the multi-million lights displayed around the park.
Overall, this is a great time. There is even a cave that you can explore that is underneath the park with tours starting every half hour... bring your tennis shoes for that one, it's over a mile hike! Whatever you do, just don't expect a Six Flags or Disneyland here at Silver Dollar City and you will enjoy it immensly.
