Weekend at Oregon Coast

We stayed at the Shilo because they were having a special. All the rooms have an ocean view and is a short walk to the beach. The rooms were very basic and not maintained. My son cut his foot with a metal strip coming off the bottom of the door. We told the front desk at check out and my husband said she didn't write it down or seem at all concerned. The sink did not drain and had a slight odor and the shower did not drain very well either. They did have a lot of water pressure coming out of the shower. Our room had two queen sized beds, table with two chairs, a desk, TV, microwave, coffee maker (my husband said it was pretty gross w/ mold inside), iron and board.

It is a short walk to the casino and the games area for the kids. Safeway and McDonald's is right around the corner.

Overall we would never stay here again. We liked that the beach was right there, but the accommodations were just awful.

The price for adults was $10.75. Kids from three and up range from $3 to $6.

The salad bar was really good. The main entrees were not very appetizing. The prime rib was rubbery. The enchiladas tasted like it came from a package, which it probably did. The desserts were yummy though.

The buffet is for the big eater. There is a plethora of food. I think some items may taste better than others, you just have to find it.

The aquarium is a great place for adults and kids. It was a little expensive, but well worth it. They have a AAA discount and I heard (call to confirm) that you can get in free for your birthday. We purchased a membership. It is good for a year and is tax deductable. The cost for a family is $70, so if you plan on going at least twice, it is worth the money.

My kids loved the aquarium! There were tanks of various fish, birds, sea lions.
