Maui is a tropical paradise like no other. Time spent there can be as relaxing as in a spa or as active as an adventure.

Westin Maui
The Westin is a beautiful hotel with by far the best pool in Kaanapali for kids and adults. The location can't be beat, right next to Whaler's Village in the heart of the beach. Luxurious accomodations, amazing service, and so much more. The rooms were so comfortable it was hard to leave. The gym is state of the art! We received several free gifts throughout our stay.

Bad service, mediocre food, cramped seating. I'm not sure what all the hype is about. I didn't think it worthwhile. There is a nice view and sometimes live music, but there are many good restaurants in Maui to be had besides this one.

Aloha Mixed Plate

Restaurant

This place rocks! Aloha is right next to the Old Lahaina Luau. So if you're there in the evenings you get to hear the whole Luau for free. The portions are huge and the food tastes good. This is not a fancy place. It's like the Hawaiian version of a diner. But if you're just looking for a place to relax for a while and not pay outrageous prices, this place is great! Look for coupons in the tourist magazines.

Have you ever paid a lot of money for a fancy Japanese dinner cooked right in front of you? Kobe is the same food and same show but more than half the price. Just like BeniHana, but better. And they have early bird specials that lower the price or coupons in the tourist magazines that give you one free dinner with purchase of another. We loved the show, the food was great, and for the price, it's a must do!

Breakfast, breakfast, breakfast! This is the place to go on the island for . . . breakfast. The deal can't be beat and the food is great. We got out for about $10 and we splurged when we saw how cheap it was. Try the banana muffin and don't miss the coconut syrup!

Warren is an amazing magician. I have always loved magicians, but this show is unlike any other I have been to. The theater holds about 60 people and is very small. Even the back row was only 10 feet away from the action. I don't know how he did most of his tricks. Some of the card tricks I have seen before, but many of his tricks are variations on older ones. And despite being so close, you still can't tell how he did it. Warren is also hilarious; he interacted with nearly everyone in the audience, making it feel like a very private show. This is a must see, just try it and you'll thank me!

The Hawaiian culture is very interesting, the music is fantastic, but to be honest, I was disappointed by the show. They market it as a Cirque de Soleil type of performance. In reality, there are two minor performances of this type and the rest is just a Hawaiian Musical. The theater is very comfortable and cool, but I personally don't think it's worth the money. If you do go, get the cheapest seats. Every seat is a good seat, despite what they might tell you.
