Tampa Break

Tampa Break

Overview

Quote:
Tampa was a peaceful little town before the advent of the Ybor City's cigar industry in the 1880s. A few years later, Henry Plant contributed to the development of Tampa by building a railroad into town and constructing the Tampa Bay Hotel, now a museum named in his honor. During the Spanish American War, Theodore Roosevelt trained his Rough Riders here and met José Marti – the famous Cuban revolutionary leader – in Ybor City, which was actually founded by immigrants from Cuba. In the 1920s the Victorian-style villas of the Hyde Park suburb, where built. Together with the skyscrapers from 1980es and 1990es they form the Tampa’s skyline. Tampa is a city, which became the seat of Hillsborough...Read More

Though this is primarily a family hotel, I found that the Best Western All Suites Hotel is a great place for companies – when I went there with three girlfriends of mine. Just take of the eleven family suites and enjoy yourselves. Even though bunk beds that are in the suite in addition to a queen-size bed for parents are not really the top of the range for adults, but it is still quite comfortable and absolutely great value. This three-story all-suites hotel is the most beach-like vacation venue you'll find close to the park. The hotel has a lush tropical courtyard with heated pool, hot tub, and a lively, sports-oriented bar – all this for us lazy souls. The bar can get noisy before cl...Read More

I remembered Mise en Place especially for its eclectic, even trendy atmosphere. That is why there are loads of young and stylish people there – which, incidentally, makes the restaurant one of the best place to spend time with old friends and make new ones. The place is kept by the famous local chef Marty Blitz and his wife, Maryann, who have been veritable culinary celebrities since the year 1986. A restaurant is not only the atmosphere, it is also food :))) Mise en Place has some of the freshest of ingredients – especially when speaking of seafood, with a really creative menu that changes daily – we went there for a week and found different specialties ea...Read More

Bayshore Boulevard

Attraction

Quote:
Bayshore Boulevard – running along the coast of the Tampa Bay – should really be the first choice for any visitor to Tampa who is in for sports activities, or just spending time in the fresh air. The seven-mile-long promenade is famous for its sidewalk right on the shores of Hillsborough Bay and is a favorite for runners, joggers, walkers, and in-line skaters. You can either take up a sport yourselves or just watch the acrobatic numbers people do while in-line skating. The route itself leaves what is the western edge of downtown and heads in a southward direction, passing the old (relatively old, that is) villas in Hyde Park, a few high-rise multi-apartment buildings, retirement communitie...Read More
