On top of all the great things to do and see in Prague itself, I highly recommend some day trips outside the city. Terezin Fortress (a German concentration camp during WWII) was very interesting in a heart-wrenching sort of way, and was only an hour bus ride from Prague. Terezin is connected to a very picturesque little town. The town boasts two little restaurants, one kosher and one regular. I can't speak to the kosher restaurant, but the other restaurant has great draft beer and fabulous wiener schnitzel.

In Prague, make sure you climb up to the top of Petrin Hill. The views are worth it. For an even better view, climb to the top of the mini tower on the hill. It's really not that many steps, and the views of Prague and Prague Castle from the top are absolutely breathtaking.
Quick Tips:
I stayed at the Prague Tulip Inn Terminus Hotel. It was a 10-minute walk from the Old Town Square, the rooms were beautiful, the staff was friendly and spoke good English, and the free breakfast buffet in the morning was fresh and delicious, a real improvement on most European "free breakfasts."
Sample the local beers. Nobody makes beer better than the Czechs. This almost makes up for the appalling lack of good food in Prague. If you're in the mood for a really good meal, go to one of the big hotels and be ready to shell out some money. The only other option for really good food I found was a little American Jazz restaurant called "Red Hot & Blues" in Old Town. The food's good, the music is better, and there are a lot of American ex-pats hanging around that you can talk to.
Best Way To Get Around:
WALK!!! If you don't feel like walking, the metro is absolutely fabulous. Read Less
