Wild animals up close and personal! A safari at the Governor's Camp in the Masai Mara, Kenya, will let you share a bit of heaven with many animals. We have visited three different parks in Kenya and this is the best for seeing animals.

Animals Grazing
We saw so many animals during our six days that we were dumb founded. I took a digital camera and a laptop and each night we had a photo show with the balloon pilot (who also had a camera and computer). In addition to the animal viewing we ate like kings and had a luxurious, authentic, old-world safari experience.

Quick Tips:

This is not a cheap trip but you can save money by dealing directly with the camp. Go to the website and get reservations, make your own arrangements to get to Nairobi, and contact the camp to make all local arrangements. They will meet you at the airport, arrange for Nairobi hotel upon arrival, fly you to the camp, and take care of all local transportation. The first time we did this we went through a travel agent. When we did it ourselves the second time we saved over for the week!

Best Way To Get Around:

Once at the camp, you get three jeep safaris per day. You also get three gourmet meals per day. It will be both the adventure of a lifetime and extremely relaxing.
Lunch at the Governor's
The cost includes all jeep safaris, all meals, and lodging in luxurious tented facilities on permanent foundations. Each tent has a permanent bathroom (with shower) connected in the back. There is no electricity but there are lanterns (believe me, you will not miss the electricity - they have outlets at the registration desk to recharge batteries).

Attraction

Leopard
You get the feeling that you are the one in the cage as you tour the Masai Mara in the open-top Land Rover. The vistas go on forever and you are never far from animals. We saw the Big Five (Caped Buffalo, Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Leopard) and many more animals during our six days. One day we sat in awe as three adult elephants defended a baby elephant from a pride of lions. Another day we watched thousands of zebras cross the mara River. A fitting final experience was watching a pride of lions tree a leopard. The jackal it had just killed hung on a lower limb as the leopard took to the high limbs to escape the pride of 12 lions!
