Weekend trip to Lisbon

Overview

Elevador de Santa Justa Photo, Lisbon, Portugal
Quote:
Stroll around the city centre, visit the most western point of the European mainland, and visit the Lisbon Expo site, especially the aquarium.

Quick Tips:

Visit the surrealistic castle of Sintra in the hills.

Best Way To Get Around:

Local public transport is very good and not too expensive.

Sul

Restaurant

Quote:
Sul mostly specialised in all kinds of meats (Uruguay beef, zebra, antelope, etc.). The chef prepares them in original and exceptional ways (e.g. Uruguay beef with mustard and honey sauce). There were very nice fish and vegetarian alternatives too.

The staff was very friendly. Sul does not accept credit cards unfortunately. If you haven't made a reservation, try to show up before 9pm when the place starts to really fill up.

This is a very original castle in its geographical location, its architecture, and its furnishings. When there, you always hesitate if you're in a fairy tale, a medieval castle, or a sultan's castle. . .

Apart from the aquarium (see above), the whole site has been nicely kept alive for a stroll along the river in the different botanical gardens. The terraces offering all types of world food and drinks are a nice way to end the day as if you were in an amusement park. The shopping centre has a lot to offer for those who would like to bring home some souvenirs or buy some 'cheap' quality clothes. The Vasco de Gama tower is worth the visit on a clear day as it will offer a breathtaking view over Lisbon and the surrounding areas.
