A February 2004 trip to Palm Springs by kdog

My dog and I needed a getaway weekend, so we booked a room at the Casa Cody Inn in Palm Springs, a dog-friendly inn two blocks from downtown. The Cody has beautiful grounds with fruit tress and two pools. Dogs hang out by the pool with their buddies.

Hotel | "Casa Cody Inn"

The Casa Cody is a historic Adobe Inn within walking distance of downtown. The lush grounds dotted with fruit trees create a serene atmosphere.

Bungalow rooms decorated in a Southwestern theme surround the two pools. Many have mini-kitchens, fireplaces, and comfy beds.

Dogs are welcome and many people meet over their canine companions. Watch out for the cat -- some dogs aren't too pleased with his residency.

Restaurant | "Tyler's"

Tyler's is a an old-fashioned burger stand, but they do have a small dining patio and do serve beer. All the burgers are all excellent. Try the 'Summersizer" named after Susan Summers.

This place is always crowded. If the line is too long, try grabbing a stool inside at the bar. Be sure to bring the old "greenbacks" 'cause they don't take any plastic.

Attraction

Make sure you get a map at the entrance to the park. It gives you a history of the area as well as a trail map. The canyons are filled with many stories and spiritual energy. There are streams and big palm trees. There are hikes to accommodate all levels. The desert air is refreshing and sometimes too much for city folk. Bring a pack lunch and spend the day.
