Coral Gables - Food, Shopping & Home town fun

Overview

Quote:
A stroll on Miracle Mile is a must for any visitor to Coral Gables. A stop at the Biltmore Hotel and David Williams Hotel are suggested. Play a round of golf at the Biltmore, if you can get a tee time.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

I feel a car is needed for a stay in South Florida. Our roads can be a bit crowded. They have installed road sign that are pciture coded to make it easier for the tourist.

John Martin's

What can I say other than I LOVE JOHN MARTIN’S. This Irish pub has the best service in town. I’ve had lunch, dinner and brunch here and can say I’ve never had a bad meal here. I wasn’t a fan of Irish cuisine until a friend took me to lunch here. The whiskey steak is to die for. Of course, have a sip of Irish Single Malt Scotch!

Caffe Abbaracci

Best Of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Abbaracci"

Quote:
This is the place for two things…fabulous Italian food and people watching. The typical crowd here will be a mix of the Americas, fashionable Coral Cables residents, tourist and those that want to be "seen". It may be a bit overcrowded on the weekends but still a "must". The food here is spectacular. Try one of the soups for a mouthwatering meal starter. If you like grilled fish, this is the place for you. I also have to mention the waiters here are excellent.

Le Provencal

Restaurant

Quote:
Forget your diet when you visit Le Provencal. This restaurant is known of its old style French cooking. Yes, heavily sauced and creamed but oh so good. The escargot has to be one of my favorites, as is the bouillabaisse. I usually have those two dishes and not much more! Okay, add some slices of excellent bread and I’m done. Wait, I forgot, dessert. See, no dieting allowed here. You won’t be sorry you indulged one day at Le Provencal.

City of Coral Gables' Venetian Pool

Attraction | "Venetian Pool"

Quote:
The Venetian pool may be the most unique swimming pool built in the world. It was built in 1923 from coral rock quarry. It is fed daily from fresh spring water and has an 820,000-gallon capacity. The pool has two waterfalls and several coral caves. This has been one of my favorites to visit throughout my life. The landscape and building surrounding the pool are magnificent in themselves. The area is like being in Venice with several loggias, porticos, an island, a beach, and stone bridge. The pool has always been popular throughout its history and currently remains so with swimmers, wedding parties and for special events. I use to like coming here instead of visiting the beach since parking and ...Read More

Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre

Attraction | "Miracle Theater --- Actors' Playhouse"

Quote:
The Actor’s Playhouse is very well known in the area. It has been selected many times as a local favorite in different newspaper polls. It is currently housed in it’s new home, the Miracle Theatre. The Actor’s Playhouse gets my vote because it stages great performances at very affordable prices.

Cocowalk Mall

Quote:
Cocowalk is something to experience. There are only a few stores in this “mall” including some hip boutiques. If you’re going partying on South Beach, here is the place to get your club clothes. Every stores window displays are works of art here at Cocowalk. The store can be expensive but they are special! This tourist center is more known for its bars, cafes and restaurants then for its shops. The “in” thing to do here is people watching on busy nights. Come and have fun here! Take a look inside Ocean Drive Fashion to get a feel for South Beach clubbing. Enjoy a good time at Fat Tuesdays or my favorite Tu-Tu Tango. Right across the street, you will find another shopping & entertainment complex, The ...Read More

Bayside Mall

Best Of IgoUgo

Attraction

Quote:
A bit farther from Coral Gables then other malls but worth the drive. This place is fun!!!! One drawback is the crowds. Bayside can be very crowded due to tourist. The main draws are Hard Rock Cafe, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Los Ranchos and Snapper’s Bar & Grill. Bayside is located right on Biscayne Bay and offer water taxi service. There is a party boat docked here for a cruise to nowhere party. There are several nationwide chains here plus several funky local stores. There is a “straw” marker section with kiosks selling one of kind items. The Miami Heat have their store here as their home, The American Airlines Arena, is across the street. The sport complex has a few restaurants and clubs of it’s ow...Read More

What can I say but this was my weekend home for many years!!! This was the mall to visit if you lived in Miami. Now it’s the mall to visit is your visiting Miami. It has grown over the years into a huge mall. These days it even has it’s own radio station! The mall has over 165 stores including the largest Burdine’s and the biggest Express and Limited stores in the US. Be pre-warned…this mall is crowded, every hour of every day but still worth the visit. The mix of exclusive stores and low-end stores is excellent. The mall has something of every budget. The food court surprising isn’t much but it does boast The Cheesecake Factory restaurant within the mall. This is my favorite “fun” restaurant these d...Read More
