A week of fun in Orlando

Things to do: The Disney theme parks – they’re all great! But be warned because the parks can kill your budget; if you can bring snacks and bottled water with you, that alone will save you a bundle. Memorable moments: Having breakfast with the Disney princesses and seeing the excitement on the girls’ faces as each princess came over to our table. And dining with Shamu -- it’s a bit pricey, but we were so close to Shamu that we could almost touch him. The dinner wasn’t bad either. Quick Tips: Wear sunscreen, as the sun in Florida can be brutal! If you’re going to Disney World, order the free video from Disney before going. And try to plan your trip during one of ...Read More

The Orange Lake Resort and Country Club is a very large resort, so large you need some type of transportation to get to most of the activities. Our check-in went very smooth and quick and the front desk staff was very friendly. We stayed in a two-bedroom villa; it was very large and spacious. The unit was clean and nicely decorated, but it was also one of the older units and some of the appliances could use updating. The washing machine, located in the kitchen, was quiet load. We did run into a couple problems with the unit while we were there. On our first night there, the cable went out, but this was a resort wide problem, caused by a thunderstorm. And our last night we had an unwelcome visito...Read More

This is the first dinner show I have gone to and was a little apprehensive at first. But after getting there, I found I enjoyed it. After purchasing your tickets, you head into the large pre-show harbor courtyard area. The pre-show area is a large room that has little shops and a bar setup on one side of the room and a performance area setup on the other side. Upon entering the room, your group is asked to pose for a picture, they will later bring the pictures around during the show for you to purchase for $10. The shops in the courtyard area all have a pirate theme and consist of fortunetellers, tattoo parlors (temporary tattoos) and a souvenir/gift shop. Traveling thought the courtyard ar...Read More

We saw the Black Angus Steakhouse as we were driving down US 192. It looked like a nice place and we were in the mood for a good steak, so we stopped in. It was about 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon when we stopped in and our party of nine (seven adults and two kids) was immediately seated. We did not need reservations, but by the time we left (about 6pm), the restaurant was packed, so I would recommend calling ahead and getting a reservation. The inside of the restaurant was incredibly big; it has high ceilings, giving it a very open feel. This probably made it seem bigger than it actually was. The menu offers chops, chicken, salads, sandwiches, ribs, seafood and burgers in additio...Read More

A reservation to breakfast with "Cindy" is one of the toughest reservations to obtain on Disney property. Cinderella, the lovely hostess, makes limited public appearances throughout the Disney theme parks. After getting up early for a few days, 90 days before our trip, I finally managed to snag a coveted seat at Cinderella's Royal Table for the last seating. Since the girls both wanted to dress up for the breakfast and our seating was not till 10:30 a.m. we had a slow start to the day, not arriving at the park till 9:30. By the time we arrived at the Castle, there was a short line of folks checking in at the podium. After checking in we headed into the main lobby to wait to be seated...Read More
