Spring Break Vacation

A May 2004 trip to West Palm Beach by Chotal3422

We visited the Palm Beach Shores Resort in West Palm Beach. The area is only a hour away from Miami and 45 minutes away from Ft. Lauderdale, which makes for some nice short day trips.

Best Things Nearby:
The Gardens Shopping Mall and Beach.

Best Things About the Resort:
This is a very nice pool and there are many planned activities.

Resort Experience:
The resort itself is very nice. The staff is very attentive to guests and takes action quickly. Our remote did not work and they were at our door in three minutes flat. They have a fitness center and there are plenty of places to jog or walk with nice views.

The one disappointing part of the resort is that you have to pay for lounge chairs on the ocean beachfront. The chairs are free at the pool, but must be rented on the ocean. This discourages guests from using the ocean, which causes the poolside chairs to fill up quickly. The reason people travel to Florida is for the sun and to require guests to pay extra would discourage me from returning.

This place has great food and service. Get there early, before 4:30pm, on the weekend. They serve excellent cheesecake, the best around. The pasta dishes are excellent with lots of flavor.

Attraction | "Flaggler Museums"

The ticket price included a water taxi down the inlet. The taxi ride is narrated as you pass by the yachts and winter homes of the rich and famous. The museum is Henry Flagler's, a prominent person in the building of Florida's east coast. The tour also includes a guided tour of his mansion. The story of his family and how they lived is quite unique.
