Hot times in Phoenix

A May 2004 trip to Phoenix by gbeacham

This is an excellent resort in the central part of the Valley of the Sun. There are well maintained grounds, a nice pool, tennis courts, and a playground for smaller kids.

This is the second times we have stayed at The Legacy. It is easy to get to and its central location makes it ideal for someone who is going to spend some time visiting the Phoenix area. Access to the metropolitan freeway system is less than five minutes away via several different routes so getting where you want to go is easy. The grounds are incredibly well taken care of. Each building has a well-maintained courtyard. About half of the buildings are adjacent to the golf course, which makes for excellent views. One evening we decided to try the on-site restaurant in the clubhouse. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced.

Quick Tips:

On our first trip, we stayed in a one-bedroom condo. It had a full kitchen with full size appliances. On this trip we stayed in a studio. It has a two-burner stove, half-size refrigerator, and small microwave. If you plan on doing much cooking, I would definitely go for the one-bedroom.

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants around. The meals come with large portions and include sopapillas. The food ranges from mild to really hot. They make their own sauces so there is some inconsistency in the spiciness on a day-by-day basis; otherwise, it is highly recommended.

The decor is awesome and they have roaming musicians on the weekends. This place is really busy on the weekends; one-hour waits are not uncommon.
