Week in Mexico

An April 2004 trip to Acapulco by imnohurie

Quote: The Grand Mayan is a great place. We had a great time while we were there. Hats off to the bartenders at the pool bar -- they're a great bunch of guys and they really take care of their guests. The prices were reasonable too.

Quick Tips:

Enjoy yourself.

Best Way To Get Around:

Use the hotel cabs and get the price ranges from the concierge. The cab drivers will try to get as much from you as they can if you don't know any better. The prices are pretty standard. If you stay in town for a while, think about renting a cab for the day. They're reasonably priced and some drivers will help you out a lot getting around town and recommending where to go.

I didn't spend much time in the room, but when I did, it was nice as far as rooms go. The big spa tub was nice. I was kind of jealous because I didn't choose the room with the jacuzzi on the balcony. It cost a little more, but I think it would have been worth it. I stayed in the new tower, but I was on the inland side; it had a nice view, but the ocean view would have been better. The atmosphere was very nice. The cool breeze while eating was very enjoyable. Each night, they had a different cuisine to offer. They didn't have pasta on Italian night, but they had it every other night -- kind of funny. The food was still very good and at good prices as well.

It was pretty cool to watch them dive. Definitely watch the last two shows of the evening. It's done with fire and looks pretty cool. The food wasn't anything to write home about, but the experience was. I imagined Elvis Presley singing there while I was eating. The atmosphere was great and they do take care of you there. Have the concierge at the resort reserve a table for you. It was an awesome table to view the cliffdivers from.

This is a great place to lounge and drink. They serve great burgers too. There are a few games to choose from as well. The bartenders take care of you very well. They can be a fun crowd.
