Crazy Cabo

The nightlife is quite crazy. If you're up for it, you can party ‘til the sun comes up.

The beaches and the Sea of Cortez are quite nice, although the water was a little cooler than expected. Parasailing was one of the highlights.

As far as dining, it's hit and miss as far as quality and price. Talk to other vacationers to get recommendations while you're there.

The worst thing about Cabo is the constant badgering by the local vendors, hawking everything from Chicklets gum to T-shirts to jewelry. If you see something you are interested in, don't pay them what they ask. We were able to dicker with most to get things for a quarter of what they originally asked.

Quick Tips:

Don't take too much money with you when walking around town. When you DO decide to bargain with the vendors, make sure to only have the amount you are willing to pay in your pocket. Don't pull the money out of your wallet (you'll get a much better deal). Another MAJOR suggestion: WATCH THE DRIVERS!!! I wouldn't recommend renting a car: all of the drivers are crazy and don't abide by any traffic laws.

Best Way To Get Around:

Unfortunately, the best way to get around is by taxi. There's a ton of them around, but they are quite expensive. Make sure to negotiate the price BEFORE you get in the cab because you can get worked over if you wait until you reach your destination. Walking is a good way as long as your resort is near downtown, although walking at night is more than a little scary.

Best Things Nearby:
Beach (on-site), downtown and marina (1 mi), golf nearby, and lots of restaurants and bars within one mile.

Best Things About the Resort:
All employees were outstanding. Everyone was courteous, friendly, and respectful. We didn't have a single complaint about the employees. There is an on-site market and deli, which are a little expensive but extremely convenient. The pool and outside areas were very clean and pretty.

Resort Experience:
This was a very nice resort. The rooms, outside areas, and the entire property are very nicely done and clean. The people who work here are outstanding! We didn't run into a single employee who was rude or less than exceptional.

There were activities put on by the resort throughout each day.

The worst things about the resort were the beds (very hard) and the swimming pool surfaces (very rough).

We had good and bad experiences at the various restaurants on-site, although all were a little pricey. All-in-all a very pleasurable experience.

There's excellent food and service. We each enjoyed the chicken burrito dinner, which had lots of food for a very inexpensive price (about $9 each). The margaritas were large and tasty, but a little spendy ($7 each).

All employees were extremely courteous and friendly. Best of all may be the location: right on the edge of the marina. It's a very romantic setting at night. This was our best "bang-for-the-buck" during our trip and definitely the best local cuisine we tasted. A MUST DO!

We had a split experience here: my wife's dinner (linguine alfredo with chicken) was excellent and mine (grilled chicken and potatoes) was so-so. The service was the worst of all of our dining experiences. The best thing was the view of the marina from this second-story restaurant.

We had a disappointing experience here. This place was recommended by some fellow guests at our resort, but we did not have near the pleasureable experience that they did.

The steak and lobster were not very good at all (for $24), although my wife enjoyed her chicken cordon bleu ($15). Desserts (banana flambe) took 15 minutes to cook table-side and they were not very good.

The worst thing was the continuous pestering by the local vendors, who took the liberty of coming right onto the patio to try and sell their goods. And the employees made no effort to shoo them away. Overall, it was not an enjoyable experience.

This place is lots of fun. The waiters put on dance skits. They pull people out of the crowd for friendly competitions (singing, dancing, etc.), which really gets the crowd into it. We had a very fun time here.

LOUD! There's a live band each night: some good, some not so good. Last night's band had the drummer from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It's pretty common to have some famous band member playing here at some point during your stay. If rock and roll is your thing, this is the place to go. It was fun dancing on platforms and the dance floor.

The drinks are average priced, but well worth the cost (careful of the "Can't Drive 55").

This is Cabo nightlife at its craziest. It's very busy during the week, and jam-packed and off-the-hook on Friday and Saturday. There's loud, pumping dance music, wall-to-wall people, Jello shots, and lots of sights to enjoy (wink). This is THE party place in Cabo.

Watch out for the locals who get very touchy with the females if left alone for just a second.
