We came to Nashville during spring break 2004 so my daughter, her friend, and her cousin could attend an anime convention at Marriott Vanderbilt College. I would encourage anyone interested in anime (Japanense art/cartoons/games/books) to attend next year's convention just to see the elaborate costumes. The convention attendees were mostly teenagers and young adults/college age, but it was definitely a fun convention. If you wish to go, register in advance because if you wait to register at the convention, at-the-door registration closes when a certain number of people have registered. Quick Tips: After driving down to the anime convention twice a day for three days, we had had enough o...Read More

Best Things Nearby:Grand Ole Opry and Opry Mills Outlet Mall.Best Things About the Resort:Johnny Cash's Sister's Concert in the Activities Building Foyer. Heated indoor pool felt wonderful after a hard day of travel. Resort Experience:The Reservation Staff worked a miracle for us. What a wonderful resort! We had two reservations, one for a deluxe bedroom starting on Friday and one for a regular bedroom starting on Saturday. They arranged for us to have both these rooms together in a lockout; we had to forfeit the regular bedroom on Saturday, but we were able to extend the deluxe bedroom one more day. The staff was wonderful in working it out so we could ...Read More

Grand Ole Opry---Do not miss this cultural experience. The show is a live Radio Country Music Show but interspersed with radio commercials. The country artists enjoy interacting with the audience and will pose for folks who come up to take their photo. It was very special when we were there - Travis Adkins highlighted a future bridegroom when he proposed. The future bride said "YES". The Grand Ole Opry is fairly close to the Fairfield Nashville Resort. If you are used to walking, you could walk. The resort is located down and across the street but about a mile from the Grand Ole Opry--almost walking distance. (But the roads are very vehicle busy.) The reso...Read More

We went on the Nashville Mystery Tour. Tommy was our driver. He kept us in stitches with his jokes, stories, information, etc. He took us places the normal Nashville tourist or native would never think to travel. One place was about 20 to 30 miles south of Nashville in the boonies, off the beaten path, and definitely in the country. Unbelievably, he drove the tour bus into a field to chase goats. What I thought he meant was we were going to get off the bus and chase the goats on foot. I did not relish chasing goats, especially in that 100-acre field of tall beautiful green grass. Being a farmer’s daughter, I know how to round up critters and I knew if we had to chase those goats it would ...Read More

It was very special night when we were at the Grand Ole Opry. Trace Adkins highlighted a future bridegroom when he proposed. He asked the future bridegroom to come up to the front of the aisle next to the stage. The spotlight was shown upon the bridegroom when he bent down upon one knee and proposed to his future bride. AND the crowd was ecstatic when his Future Bride hollered "YES".
