Thomas at train crossing
The best part of the day was to see my sons' face when he saw Thomas!! He had only seen him in videos. We didn't know a life size train existed. When we went was the last day Thomas was at Strasburg Railroad, the weather was still warm so they had other activities for the kids. Pony rides, many bounce rides and clowns with pace painting. We paid one price of per person, and that included everything, the train ride plus all other activities. The train ride was about a 15-20 minute ride, but you can go on it as many times as you like. We rode in 'Claribel' one of the five cars Thomas pulled.

Quick Tips:

Thomas will be in Strasburg again on December 2 & 3, 2000. From 10:00-3:00pm This time of year will cost per person to ride with Thomas. They also have a regular steam engine which gives you a 45 minute ride and they have a diner car where you can have lunch. Santa will also be on one of the trains. There are vendors selling food and drinks or there is a fast food type restaurant where you can sit down to eat. There are many shops where you can buy shirts and other souviners. If you bring a stroller, they are not permitted on Thomas I'm not sure about the regular train. Everyone just parked the strollers off to the side of the building.

Best Way To Get Around:

Once you get to the train station there is free parking. Than you just walk around to all the activities.
If you like to be close to everything, but still go camping, this is the place for you. It's located right next to Dutch Wonderland Amusement Park. From tents to Rv's ,they have 30 & 50 amp hook ups, air-conditioned bath bouses, 2 laundromats, cable TV, Pavilion Facilites a gameroom for the kids and also a playground. They have a store where they sell LP Gas, Ice and Firewood. Paddleboats and Horseshoes are available. Pets are permitted, but must be on a leash!

The food was delicious! If you're in this area it's a must to stop in! Reservations are recommended, but you can just walk-in (if there's not a long line). If you have to wait, leave your name and follow the brick walkway and check out the shops. They serve a breakfast and a dinner smorgasbord. Breakfast is served from 8:00am and dinner is started at 12:00 noon.
