Walked King's Cross, down to Potts Point, on to Woolloomooloo (beautiful wharf). I stopped there for lunch in a bistro, then a walk across Hyde Park and on to the Sky Tower. This was a great place to visit the first day for many reasons: you get a sense of where you are, where you’re staying, where to walk next... They also have a tourist office where you can get set up for any kind of tour or activity you dreamed. And they have a fun virtual tour called Australian expedition, try it! Try the FOX Backlot too (Titanic ride is a laugh!). Spend a day at rides and tours, plus the café, shops and entertainment-filled street preceeding the lot. A must: The Rocks walking tour! Hosted by a p...Read More

This hostel is a large beautiful building, just a block away from St. Mary's Cathedral and Hyde Park, making it only minutes away from ANYWHERE! Rooms are big, bunks are comfortable, all linen is supplied, showers are clean, kitchen is grand... there's no better place to stay in! Affiliated to VIP and Central City Backpacker.

They will actually charge less during the holidays. Opens 10 - 6 daily except X-mas Day. Bent Street stays open till much later. This backlot is not Universal Studios Hollywood, so keep your expectations down. But you will definitely have a grand time and will enjoy yourself if you do the tours with an open mind. Plan the day keeping in mind most of the attractions have schedulled times in which they run, you don't just stand in line to be next. And sometimes, you may catch a glance of a movie being produced there (Star Wars was a closed set, but most aren't). After the backlot closes (which is rather early) take your time to stroll down Bent Street. It has heaps of bars, restaurants, shops, even mov...Read More

White and Beige Tiles!!! Can you believe it? It's not a white smooth surface, it's a tiled thing, you need to see and touch it to believe it! Awesome experience just being there. I also recommend you take one of the tours to learn of its history, the building ordeal, and get to see it inside and out. Lots of steps!

It's a walking tour and it takes its time, so bring comfy shoes or sneakers (ladies: there are several steps, and steep cobblestone streets, pick your footwear wisely). You are taken through the streets of The Rocks by night, while the guide tells tales of murder and ghosts along the way. The different architecture styles are pointed out, you are also shown Sydney's oldest house, and any other significant site in Sydney's history. At the end of the tour, you are taken to a pub for the ultimate spook story and the complimentary drink. It's a night to remember!

If you stay on the bus, the full circuit takes 1 hour 40 minutes to complete, and it's a very thorough sightseeing trip. But also, it's a hop on - hop off tour, so you can use it as a transportation system. For more info check the Sydney Bus website.

After a short bus ride, you get to this beautiful park. They allow visitors to pet Koalas and Kangaroos, but you may also get a close look at emus, penguins, dingoes, and other native species. Some are caged, some run around free, but it's an incredible experience to be so close to them and for them to approach you in need of touch. Just stay away from the protected areas, you'll be right. Then stop by at the souvenir shop, you'll find it fun and maybe worth buying a stuffed toy or two.
