Hotel

Sides is a relatively new B&B in Salthill, just outside Galway city. The room we stayed in was a very spacious double room. We had an en suite room and the room had everything we needed, including adequate furniture, a power shower, and a very clean bathroom. The room also had a very reasonable rate of 42 euro per night.

The people who owned the place, Anne and Derek, were very friendly, and the breakfast they served the next morning was delicious. They actually gave us a menu to choose from and catered to a broad range of tastes.

Restaurant

Dano's is a really cosy vegetarian cafe in the centre of Galway city. On this particular visit, we visited mid-morning so it was quite busy, but we still were served very swiftly.

The vegetarian lasagna I ordered was delicious, but the side salad I got with it was a little dry. The hot chocolate I ordered afterwards was absolutely delicious.

The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The decor in Dano's is very modern and spacious, but still manages to have a cosy feel about it.

The price range was very reasonable. I ordered vegetarian lasagna with a side salad, a glass of sparkling water, a hot choclate, and a muffin and the bill came to about 11 euro, which is very reasonable for Galway city.

Molloy's PubBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Live music"

Molloy's Pub is a very old traditional Irish pub where the live entertainment is just outstanding. It's basically just traditional Irish music and it's perfect for tourists who want a taste of Irish culture. Different musicians are in every night providing a broad range of the different aspects of Irish music. The night we were there, we were invited to join in and I even got a lesson in how to use a bodhran (a traditional Irish handheld drum).

The staff is very friendly and they helped us find somewhere to stay in the city. The only drawback I could see was the price of drinks in there: a pint of Guinness was 4.60 euro, which I thought was a bit steep. Overall, though, we had a really good time in there.
