A June 2003 trip

Quote: Read about how to get between airports in London.
If you have a lot of luggage and a bit of time (at least three hours), your best option might be to take the National Express airport bus. One way trip from Heathrow to Gatwick was 15 pounds. It took about hour and 45 minutes for the journey [runs every half hour]. To book tickets go to www.nationalexpress.com (tel: 08705 757 747), but getting a ticket when you get there was not a problem. The bus station is in terminal 2.
A more expensive option if you are fairly mobile and more pressed for time is to take the Heathrow Express to Victoria Station than take the Gatwick Express. The price one-way is 18 pounds for one of those. So it is more than twice the amount.
Don't take a cab between the two airports. You are likely to be charged an amount that is closer to airfare than cab fare. Also you will be stuck in London traffic.
I flew into Heathrow on American Air and then I caught an Easy Jet flight from South terminal in Gatwick.
