An April 2004 trip
to Half Moon Bay by Inasuitcase
Quote: My boyfriend and I visit Half Moon Bay often since he lives nearby and since one of our favorite restaurants can be found here. It's a hidden gem!
The managers were SUPER friendly and helpful. The views of the ocean were BREATHTAKING! There is a path to a small private beach (NO swimming! Don't be stupid.) There is a lockout from 10am-4:30pm but you're close to so much, including San Francisco and Santa Cruz. There is a curfew of 11pm, too. No worries! They have a nice common room with a selection of books and board games. There is a kitchen for your use. The only downside I found was the lack of bathrooms. There are 35 beds but I found only two single bathrooms. Each had a shower. Families are welcome, too, even babies, but they need to be in a private room. As for private rooms, you could definitely make it a romantic stay. Those rooms have ocean views/sounds.

It's not a very large restaurant and the wait can be long. Unfortunately, they do not take reservations. There is, also, not much of a waiting area, either. There is a small bar but it's usually occupied, too. The wait, though, is worth it! Also, due to its size and the amount of tables they're cramming in here, it's not overly romantic. The lighting fits the mood and the noise level isn't too loud so if you can be romantic with a stranger at your elbow, PERFECT!
The service is attentive and impeccable. The food is delicious! Between my boyfriend, his family, and myself, we haven't had too many complaints. We've found better gnocchi elsewhere and some dishes have been a bit oily but overall, it's been a pleasure every time we dine.
I can't seem to find a phone number or website. Hmmm. . . I pull up two locations for an It's Italia Pizzeria. I think they do have two locations but it's certainly not a chain. Those two numbers are (650) 726-4444 or (650) 712-1102. I guess I'd just ask if they were in a strip mall, off the main highway. In the mall, there is also a coffee shop and Thai restaurant among other things. I hope this helps; otherwise, it'll remain my secret.
