A January 2004 trip to Palm Beach by richardsonhicks

Billy and I went south on New Year's Day 2004 to have a month away from the cold and to visit some of his children....warm winds, blue water, and sandy beaches...could you ask for more?

One-bedroom suites were nicely decorated and perfect for a couple. Bathroom large, but only disappointment was that it was a regular tub (what can I say? I love my baths!) The regular tub just didn't seem to fit with the rest of the place/resort. Room faced the pool area...quiet in the mornings, busy with activity in the afternoon. If you had children (we don't), lots of activities to join in. Beach was great for walking...and the pool was perfect for cooling off after a long stroll on the beach. Beautiful exotic birds around the pool...

Best Things Nearby:
the beach, the pool, the marina...and lots of things easily accessed by car.

Best Things About the Resort:
It has a very tropical feel. Exotic birds are housed around the pool area...staff were very nice. Beach to walk. Pool to swim. Lots of activities if you want to participate.

Resort Experience:
The one-bedroom units are perfect for a couple. Don't think I'd want to share this space with others. While the kitchen is listed as partial, it was very adequate for our use. The bathroom was large, but I was disappointed with the old regular tub (I can't help it, I love my baths!)...didn't seem to fit the rest of the feel of this Gold Crown resort. Very nicely furnished...our room faced the pool area...quiet in the mornings, and busy with activity in the afternoons. We enjoyed our stay, and it was close to family in Lake Worth.

Resort Experience:
This is an older resort... modified motel/hotel. We left early as we didn't like Daytona, and the weather was cold, so we ended up going farther south and back to family. I found the staff non-chalant, and the place lacking...while you can see that they are working on upgrading the place, there is no excuse for half the laundry facilities to be out of order for days. The rooms were adequate, but in good weather I can see that the ocean view would be gorgeous.
