The day I first skied Heavenly started out overcast with flurries. I bundled up and resigned myself to a cold day on the mountain. After riding the high-speed chair to the top, I skied a little way down the mountain. Pausing to review my trail map, I looked up just as the clouds split and sunlight spilled down upon Lake Tahoe, making it gleam like a jewel. Without a doubt, Heavenly has some of the best views of any ski mountain. Tahoe is a great place to base yourself for an outdoors vacation. There's hiking, skiing, boating.
