The Rialto Bridge.

Peggy Guggenheim Museum were the highlights and of course St.Mark's Square.

Quick Tips:

It is easy to get around but spend the .95 before you go at Borders or somewhere and get a nice city map. We got the streetwise brand (they have them for many cities) You will need it but with the map we never got lost.

Best Way To Get Around:

Vaporetto's and walking

Well, after the wonderful hotel we had in Florence this was a let down the room was small and right over a restaurant/bar that was really loud, but we found out that at about 11pm things quieted down so it was OK. They were supposed to have breakfast but didnt. So they gave us a 5% discount but it cost more than $10.00US to get 4 coffees and 2 croissants. Otherwise it wasnt all that bad except we checked out the night before since we were leaving early and we told the guy we were getting an early boat to airport, he never told us the gate would be locked?? We were trapped!!! We tried our key and I went behind the desk an saw some keys and tried them but nothing worked!!! Finally the night man mus...Read More

We ate here twice. Once for lunch and our last night we had dinner here. They have quite a few tables outside and that is the place to be. The menu is simple. Pizza and pasta. The house Chianti is very good. This is a nice place to just stop and have a drink and watch the boats.

There are a lot of stalls here that all have the same thing and the same prices. Postcards, books etc. But it's worth seeing and if you want some small gifts to take back, this is the place.

This is the place to be. Except I have a fear of pidgeons so I tend to stay away from the center of the place, where they have vendors selling pidgeon food. There are a lot of places you can sit and order drinks and lunch but they are super expensive. We found some little shops that sold wonderful sandwiches and beer and we just took them and sat in the square and enjoyed the music and people watching. There are vendors set up here selling souveniers but they are pricier than the stalls near the Rialto Bridge.

Doge's Palace/Palazzo Ducale

Attraction | "Doge's Palace"

The Doge's Palace is well worth seeing. 18,000 Lira is the admission (it includes a couple of museums also). We found those rather lame. The Doge's Palace has lots of ornate wall paintings. There are lots of different rooms and staircases.

Guggenheim Museum

Attraction

This is a small collection. She liked Jackson Pollock and Max Ernst ( Ernst was her 2nd husband). So she has a lot of surealist and modern stuff. Her grave is also there and the graves of all her beloved dogs.

I did like this museum because you got to see a lot of artists lesser known paintings. You'll also find 2 Magrittes (if you like Magritte please see my Brussels review) and there is a Picasso and David Hockney.

They have a nice cafe and gift shop also.

This collection will take no more than an hour to view.
