An April 2004 trip to Calabogie by DebraAnn

Quote: A one-week, spring vacation in the Ottawa Valley that was relaxing and fun. A quiet place to sit back, see some sights, and catch up on the reading.

Best Things Nearby:The countryside of small towns, with Ottawa, the nation’s capital, just an hour away.Best Things About the Resort:The lake at your doorstep, the people, and the relaxing gentle area. Coming from a large city, it was nice to be able to just drive without traffic.Resort Experience:This is a nice quiet area with lots to do. We spent a few days driving around visiting small towns. There was Ottawa an hour away with lots of activities from museums, government buildings, shopping, walking and biking trails, sports, and theaters. Difenbunker

Attraction

Quote:
This is a decommissioned Cold War bunker that was to be used by the Canadian government. It is interesting on a number of levels, including the history of that time and its long-term use as a military base. And my husband was interested in the pictures and info on the construction.

Canadian Mint

Attraction

Quote:
By reservation, you are able to take a tour of the production facilities of the Canadian Mint. This location produces the non-circulation coins, the collector editions. It is interesting to see the time and labour involved in making these coins. You are able to pick up a 400-ounce gold bar (with a guard watching very closely).
