Quote: We hadn't seen our friends since they moved from Portland, Oregon, to Vancouver, Washington, so we invited them to meet us in Seaside, Oregon, at the WorldMark Resort, for four nights. We were able to get reacquainted and see the local sights at the same time. We had a great time.

As members of WorldMark the Club, we used "bonus time" on our way to and from Seaside, Oregon to spend a night each way at the Running Y Resort. The resort is located in Klamath Falls, Oregon. We had a one-bedroom/one-bath unit overlooking an Arnold Palmer 18-hole Championship Golf Course, which has a pro shop, driving range and clubhouse. Our unit amenities included a fully equipped kitchen with microwave and dishwasher, gas fireplace, telephone, cable TV, VCR and stereo system, washer and dryer, private deck and gas barbecue. Our unit had a queen-size bed and a sleeper sofa. Pets were not allowed. Scooters, skateboards and in-line skates cannot be used on the property. The resort has an indoor swimm...Read More

Best Things Nearby:Start with a stroll along the Seaside Promenade, view the Lewis and Clark statue at the nearby Seaside turnaround or visit the Seaside Aquarium. They’re all within a few yards of the resort. The Seaside Historical Museum is small, but very interesting and includes a tour of the Butterfield cottage. Carousel fans will enjoy the beautifully restored one in the Carousel Mall. Visit the diner there also for a trip back in time. Climb the Astoria column in Astoria for 360 degree views of the surrounding area, take a twelve minute drive to Cannon Beach and see Haystack Rock and check out Ecola Park for some of the most beautiful scenery along the Oregon coast. The Lewis and Clark sa...Read More

Reservations are recommended and can be made up to 30 days in advance. We hadn't planned ahead that far, but fortunately, the WorldMark manager at the South Shore resort was able to reserve two tickets for us on the M.S. Dixie II’s Sunday Brunch Cruise along Lake Tahoe’s South Shore. We arrived at the pier a half-hour early to pick up our tickets and take our place in line. At 9am, the largest, most comfortable passenger vessel to ever cruise Lake Tahoe pulled away from the pier and started her 90-minute cruise along the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. We had seen Lake Tahoe many times before, but never from the deck of a paddlewheeler. The state-of-the-art, 570-passenger M.S. Dixie II was construct...Read More

Story/Tip

It had been a few years since we had seen our friends, although the wives had stayed in touch by e-mail. We wanted a chance to see and visit with them in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere and hit on the idea of spending a few days together on the Oregon coast near where they now lived. We chose a 2-bedroom unit at the newly opened WorldMark resort in Seaside, Oregon, for our meeting place. To drive there, we would need to spend a night on the road. We reserved a 1-bedroom unit at the WorldMark Running Y Resort in Klamath Falls, Oregon. While we were at it, we arranged to stay there again for one night on our way home, too. As luck would have it, we had recently been invited to WorldMark's new fraction...Read More
