Pardon the 'Star Trek' joke about the Borg and assimilate (to incorporate and absorb into the mind: assimilate knowledge) yourself with this comprehensive report about Atlantic City's newest hotel (including a review of their Piatto suite). When I first heard the about the Borgata being built in Atlantic City, I knew I'd have to visit. After it was open and I heard it being compared to the Bellagio, my favorite Vegas hotel, I knew I had to visit...soon! When Atlantic City became an IgoUgo Hot Destination, I knew I had to visit immediately! With so much to do on the property, such as gambling, fine dining, shows, concerts, shopping and the spa, I realized I could g...Read More

The newest casino hotel in Atlantic City, the Borgata, has often been compared to the Bellagio in Las Vegas. With about 6,000 rooms, the hotel offers many room options, from standard accommodations to large suites. (Residences are reserved for high rollers only, and are not bookable by the public.) I was fortunate to stay in their top-of-the-line, 1500-square-foot Piatto suite. The suite's floor-to-ceiling windows afforded a wonderful view of the marina, where the hotel is located (as opposed to the boardwalk, where the majority of AC hotels were built). Other in-room features included an entertainment center (complete with ...Read More

The slogan of this classic steakhouse is, "SPECIALIZING IN THE 4 FOOD GROUPS: BEEF, BEEF, BEEF AND BEEF." I didn't get a very good table (in the center) of this two-story, dome-shaped restaurant, but I was glad I wasn't seated under the dome. The restaurant's design amplifies the acoustics, making dinner conversation difficult. The eatery was full, even though it was a Monday night. Reservations (well in advance) are a must to be guaranteed a table. I was advised to make them when I booked my hotel room, and was glad I did. I showed up on time for my table, but still had to wait about 15 minutes in the small lounge before I could be seated. The wine lis...Read More

I usually don't review in-room dining; however, I was happy to find reasonably priced in-room dining options available at the Borgata. I was hungry and a bit tired upon my arrival at the hotel, so I decided to order lunch from room service as I unpacked. The appetizer of tomatoes with buffalo mozzarella, basil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar ($11) sounded like the perfect accompaniment to the open-faced sirloin steak sandwich, served with fries, ($15) on the menu. When I saw that the service charge was only $2.50, I couldn't resist. I placed my call to in-room dining, pleased that it would be only 30 minutes until the food arrived. Unfortunately, th...Read More

Located on the second floor of the Borgata, Spa Toccare (pronounced toh-CAR-ay) is a tranquil environment that feels miles away from a bustling casino. After signing in at reception, guests are directed to the men's or women's spa, where they are assigned a locker containing a robe, handed spa sandals in their size, and usually given a tour of the facilities. I arrived just a few minutes before my first service, so I didn't get the guided tour. ...Read More
