The Seacroft is the best place in town without a doubt. We've been there every time we've traveled to Bar Harbor. It's an inn with homey rooms -- if you're looking for extra plush rooms, go to one of the new hotels and spend too much money. Rooms are air-conditioned, have small TVs, and phones for incoming calls only. Each morning, waiting outside your door is a basket with fresh muffins, granola bars, juice and fruit. Coffee is served each morning on the front porch as well. The owners of the Seacroft, Bunny and Dave, can tell you anything and everything you want to know about Bar Harbor. The inn is located on a beautiful little side street and is just a few buildings from Main Street, and in t...Read More

Geddy's

Restaurant | "Geddy's in Downtown Bar Harbor"

Quote:
Geddy's is a great spot to hang out for an afternoon with a good beer and sharing appetizers with friends -- it's a Bar Harbor institution. We tend to go to Bar Harbor early in the season and although our waitress was inexperienced, she couldn't have been nicer.

The four of us split some mussels and "Ba Haba Gull Wings" (buffalo wings) -- both were very good.

Jordan Pond House Restaurant

Restaurant | "Jordan Pond House"

You come upon the Jordan Pond House as you exit Acadia National Park. It's a very popular place and is well known throughout the area for its popovers. In the summer, they have tea on the lawn that borders the pond -- a lovely location. We tend to visit a little too early in the season for that, but we usually stop in and have some chowder and popovers. The restaurant interior is very open -- large windows looking out toward the lawn area, with a beautiful view of the pond and The Bubbles (two mountains) behind it. The seafood chowder is superb -- very creamy and delicious. The popovers come with jam, so you can enjoy one with your meal and pretty much have the other with jam as a dessert! ...Read More

Pump Station Cafe

There's never a dull night at the Pump Station Cafe! This became our nightly "hang out" while in town. We met so many of the locals and were treated like old friends. The whole bar (tiny though it is) sang "Happy Birthday" to me. The Pump Station is very small and seats maybe 15-20 people with standing room for a few more.

Food comes from the Route 66 restaurant next door, which is owned by the same people. The food is ok -- nothing to rave about. Go here for the beer and camaraderie.

Lompoc Cafe & Brew Pub

Restaurant | "Lompoc Cafe & Brew Pub"

Quote:
The Lompoc started as a brewpub and has expanded over the last few years. They also now offer an eclectic menu that changes seasonally. We tried their spinach and artichoke dip, which came with pita bread -- it was excellent. They also make their own line of microbrews including Blueberry Ale (amazing), Special Old Bitter, Coal Porter, and, my favorite, Bar Harbor Ale. It’s a great place to stop in for a pop while making the rounds in town. And you can always try your hand at the bocce court in the yard if you're feeling adventurous!
