Spring in Aruba

An April 2003 trip to Aruba by Grandma Dodie

Eight nights in paradise at the Aruba Phoenix resort...snorkeling, casinos, and shopping.

Best Things Nearby:
Boardwalk along the beach to all of the casinos and resorts as well as bus line right out front to downtown shopping.

Best Things About the Resort:
Right on the beach so we could rent snorkel equipment from the resort and use it right there!

Resort Experience:
The Aruba Phoenix is the start of the high-rise resorts in a great location on the beach. My husband and I had a studio through an exchange with RCI, but our friends rented a one-bedroom on the beach. Both units were very nice! The Sunset Beach Bistro at this resort was the BEST restaurant in Aruba for the price and ambience.

Restaurant

You could get the three-course dinner for two, which included a free bottle of house wine for about $20 per person and the setting right on the beach was beautiful! This is a bargain price as food in Aruba is quite expensive.

We tried several restaurants in Aruba while we were there, i.e. French Steakhouse, El Gaucho, Aqua Grill, Iguana Joe's (Downtown), etc. They were all quite good & somewhat expensive.
