Bratislava -- Europe's best-kept secret

A January 2004 trip to Bratislava by ContessaVladia

This small Eastern European capital of Slovakia is located only 40 miles from Vienna and is considered an off the beaten track destination. It has a baroque flair combined with a modern architecture of newly developing city.

One of the best hotels in Bratislava. It is ocated in the center of the Old Town, a walking distance from the Bratislava castle and other major attractions. It has a great restaurant, a little bit expensive for local average. Nice rooms, conference center, great services, and english speaking staff.

Restaurant | "Irish Pub"

This is a very lively cosmopolitan pub, very popular among locals, locally living Americans, and English speaking visitors. Interior is very eclectic and interesting with a big fireplace and busy bar. It is not your romantic dining destination, but this is a great place to grab a bite to eat along with a Guinness or local beer. You'll get to talk to locals and visitors, exchange tips and tricks on how to get around. Menu is in English.
