The Epic Mountain Town

A travel journal to Lake Louise by Kiera03

Quote: I live in Lake Louise, AB, and I think it is a beautiful place to work, play, visit, or stay. This is a treasure--it is a national park whose mandate is to preserve ecological integrity for future generations to enjoy and play.

This place is spectacular. It’s very pricey, but worth every penny. Mostly a fondue and wine bar, the views overlook Victoria glacier and Lake Louise (the lake). The ambience is subtle, romantic, and the service is great! If you are interested in trying wild game, various fondue variations and desserts. . . this is the place. Highly recommended.

If you are looking for some extreme skiing, fresh snow, great groomers, long seasons and variable weather, this is the place to be. It has been improved upon greatly under new ownership and is turning into a great resort. Limited by being in a National Park, this resort does cater to those looking for a nature experience as well. What you won't find here is Intrawesty type villages and accommodations at the base, or extreme convenience like the new age resorts. Due to park limitations, the resort is only able to make minor modifications/additions/upgrades. Still, the lift lines are short, the choices of terrain abundant, and the views spectacular.
