This island is located just north of Sarasota. The island has maintained its charm by prohibiting construction of tall buildings. The beach is white powder-soft sand and the water is quite calm. The atmosphere throughout the island is very casual, but there are several fine dining restaurants. It's a great place to go to relax and unwind. There are several public tennis courts and golf is just a short drive away. There is also a skateboard park, but you need to buy an annual license to use it.

Bike riding is very common. There is a trolley that goes all around the island.
