Luxurious Cabo

An October 2003 trip to Cabo San Lucas by Bigsneaky

Every day was perfect for us. Hot, sunny, dry weather with a warm breeze. Our resort was beautiful and the view from our unit was breathtaking. Everyone is always happy in Cabo. Great dining and lots of fun things to do there.

Hotel | "Hacienda del Mar Resort"

Best Things Nearby:
Great nightlife, golf courses, weather.

Best Things About the Resort:
Wonderful series of swimming pools overlooking the ocean/Sea of Cortez, variety of restaurants, beautiful units.

Resort Experience:
We had a beautiful two-bedroom villa with a huge terrace that had three walkouts onto it. Our unit directly overlooked the swimming pool and ocean. It was very spacious. We loved it. The hotel has several restaurants and bars to choose from. Most are family friendly and a couple are really meant for adults only. Pool service for food and drinks was always good. The staff were very kind and there were often activities to participate in. The beach is quite dangerous for swimming, but the pools are great, with several different textures on the bottom and beautiful landscaping surrounding them. The golf course has one hole directly on the ocean and there is a beautiful tennis facility affiliated with the resort. This was a first-class resort. We travelled a long way to get there and it was well worth the trip.

Restaurant | "Pitahaya's"

This is a beautiful open concept restaurant located at the beach of the Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar. You will hear the ocean and feel the soft breeze as you enjoy your wonderfully prepared meal outside under an enormous bamboo roof. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is lovely. Good place for a romantic dinner. Not recommended for children.

Attraction

We boarded a two-deck boat. There were probably about 30 people onboard. It takes you out on a little tour and then to a quiet bay to snorkel at for about 45 minutes. You can also swim to the nearby beach to relax for a while. We went with three children. The 7- and 11-year-old were fascinated by seeing the fish and coral reef. No equipment other than the life jacket could fit the 5-year-old, but he did enjoy his swim. We were provided with a nice barbecue lunch and nonstop drinks. While we generally don't like to do "tourist type" activities, we did enjoy this. There are several different boats offering this cruise. Be sure to choose a comfortable one, because you're travelling on it for about 1.5 hours.
