March Break in Myrtle Beach

A March 2004 trip to Myrtle Beach by madeincanada

Quote: Myrtle Beach was great in March. Even with March Break it still wasn't overly crowded. The weather, although too cold for ocean swimming, was perfect for golf and pool activities. Can/Am week was an ideal time for Canadians to visit.

I always thought of Myrtle Beach as "the poor man’s" alternative to Florida, where thousands of teenagers huddle on the beach, not realizing that here, the Atlantic Ocean is not warm enough for swimming in March. Not so; over the last decade, Myrtle Beach has experienced a major growth explosion. Myrtle Beach welcomes nearly 12 million vacationers annually. The majority of vacationers flock to the beach during the summer, but other times of the year, considered the off-season, offer fantastic savings. There is something for everyone in Myrtle Beach. Discount motels along the strip to 5-star resorts about a mile from the beach suit every budget. An added bonus to our visit in March 2004 was Can/...Read More

They were building additional units while we were there, and even though our balcony was right across the pond from the construction, it did not interfere with our stay. Our unit was a large two-bedroom on the fourth floor of building 12. There was a skylight in the living room. The kitchen was fully stocked with colourful dishes, ample silverware, and glasses for the four adults and two children using them. The master bedroom...Read More

The atmosphere at Pier 14 was great. We had a table by the window, where we watched the waves from the Atlantic Ocean crash to shore, while eating a wonderful seafood dinner.

Course was in good shape. There were a lot of roads to cross. Par 72, 6857 yards. We played from the white tees 6028 yards. There are four tees and the ladies' tees to choose from. Seven holes have water. We played in March, ideal weather (high 60's, low 70's).

There is an East and a West course. We played the East. This course came highly recommended. It was good, but last on the list of the three courses I played. The course is a par 72, 6714 yard course. There are two tees to play from and the ladies' tees. Water can be found on nine holes. Visit www.classicgolfgroup.com for more information.

Great course, very challenging. The staff was very helpful. I booked our tee times online and somehow the golf course didn't get them. They were very accommodating and got us on the course around the same time as our scheduled tee time. There are a lot of homes around the perimeter of the course, so if you lose a ball in someone's backyard/pool, the clubhouse will replace it after your round - all you have to do is tell them.
