Poets Corner is a very friendly, homely hostel situated right in the centre of Olomouc or pron. Ollamoats. On arrival Tom & Carmen who were temporarily looking after the hostel made me feel most welcome and provided me with a very useful map and gave me invaluable recommendations on where to eat, drink and visit. The hostel is decorated with art and also great posters with language tips. (Great one on the toilet door!. I had the blue room with a lovely angel painted on the walls.) The hostel has a communal kitchen with free tea and coffee, bathroom and toilet. You can ask to use the washing machine for a small fee. There are 4-6 beds in a dorm-250 kc per dorm bed, 750kc for a twin private ro...Read More

Cafe 87, right next to the art museum, is a lovely place to hang out after a browse round the museum. I have to say that the chocolate pie was divine!!! I am not a massive fan of chocolate desserts, but this is not sickly, but quite rich in a very satisfying way. I wouldn’t a...Read More

Museum umeni has a permanent collection of 14th- to 18th-century Italian paintings, including one or two 16th-century Venetian works. I found some of the paintings of animals rather amusing though; for some reason, most of the representations of dogs were rather deformed! The museum had a temporary Czech film poster exhibit when I visited. Some of the posters were rather obscure, but some of them may be familiar to those who like the Beatles, as they had a great poster from when Yellow Submarine was released. I also wandered ‘round an exhibit of Czech architectural drawings and models, which I found rather dull, but I am sure it will appeal to others. The museum is light and airy. You...Read More
