Beautiful Grand Lake Of the Cherokees

An October 2003 trip to Oklahoma by Doznroses

When autumn arrives in the midwest, the place to see all the beautiful trees is in the Ozark country. The Grand Lake of the Cherokees is just one of the beautiful lakes in Oklahoma where you can admire the trees.

Attraction

Family restaurant offering home-style cooking, buffet, or menu items from fried chicken to hamburgers. Service is great with hometown atmosphere. Or just go for pie and coffee. My grandkids love to eat here, and it is a must when they are with us.

Out of our many trips to the Grand Lake the ones taken in the autumn are the most enjoyable. The colors of the trees are at their best, and geese and ducks are flying for warmer weather.

After enjoying the fall foliage there are many things to do in Grove, OK which is surrounded by the Grand Lake. There are numerous Antique stores, which will take at least two or three days to browse through. Har-Ber Village is a must see Antique Museum, it is the largest museum of its kind (donation only for admittance) in the United States.

There are numerous campgrounds and motels in the area. We are members of the Bears Den Resort, which is just north of the Sailboat Bridge. Here they have activities for everyone and we enjoy the campgrounds and the people we have met over the years.

In Grove, you will find many fast food restaurants but our favorite is Drakes, which is found on 59 Highway going south through town.

Other activities include boating, fishing, casinos, shopping, canoeing, and just plain relaxing. This park is approximately 100 miles from Branson, which makes a day trip feasible without pulling your RV through the traffic in Branson. Everyone will enjoy the Grand Lake fall foliage and the many attractions it offers.
