Old Queretaro

A March 2004 trip to Queretaro by fresita

This is a good place for relaxing. The old hacienda is made of volcanic stone --it's luxurious, spacious, and family friendly in a very exclusive area of Queretaro.

Overview

The resort is located in a very exclusive area of Queretaro, so is safe, clean, private, and exclusive. It is an old hacienda, so it has big units. There are three restaurants and three bars, a playground area, a really clean swimming pool, horseback riding, and carriage rides. There are soccer fields, basketball, courts and mini golf. There are a lot of family activities. There's a spa onsite the resort and they do great services!

Quick Tips:

The Hacienda is within driving distance to almost everything besides the amenities, but the onsite restaurants are very well recommended. They are all buffet-style, not that expensive, and with a variety of very good Mexican food.

Best Way To Get Around:

You definitely need a car to get around.

Best Things Nearby:
In downtown Queretaro, were you can do some handcraft shopping, look at some art galleries, or even at visit some antique galleries. After a walk around, you can get a mantecado, an ice cream made of butter and some other things -- it tastes great!

Best Things About the Resort:
The pool area is clean and spacious. The units are big with two double beds and all face the main patio where there’s a fountain and carriages on exhibit.

Resort Experience:
The resort was made of volcanic stone more than 80 years ago, but now it’s just a hotel. They offer horseback riding on-site -- they will guide you through all over the place so you can get to know the area. Also, the spa is very well equipped -- it's a little expensive, but I think it’s worth it. The hotel is family friendly. It's a small resort, but it has everything onsite.

The rooms are very spacious, luxurious, comfortable, and pretty clean. They are very private and quiet, which is good for resting. The staff is very kind.

Restaurant

It's a nice place to have dinner. It's a quiet place with some intimate music. They serve very exotic meals with entrees like buffalo meat or different kinds of seafood. I can recommend the buffalo rib eye and the fettuccine Alfredo. I also recommend the desserts, especially the chocolate cake.
