Orlando

A June 2004 trip to Orlando by MNStander

This was a Disney trip that was blessed with excellent weather and not too many people.

Overview

We did Downtown Disney, Universal Studios, the Boardwalk, and Epcot. The people-watching was fun, the rides interesting, and the time spent with family priceless.

Quick Tips:

Look for the discount houses selling unused tickets. Most packages are for two, three, or four days. Let’s face it, sometimes one day is enough, so find some unused time for cheap. Research the parks before you go. Some are all virtual and others are all roller coasters while others are mixed. Get to the park early and do the most popular ones first before the lines form. Don’t be afraid to split up and do the single-rider lines.

Best Way To Get Around:

The buses run from most hotels to the parks and drop you at the front. There are no parking fees, no looking for your car in the sea of cars, and everyone gets to be a sightseer.

Restaurant | "Bongo's"

This is actually Cuban cuisine -- it was very good food, but expensive. Everything in Downtown Disney is expensive. I would highly recommend that you get appetizers since most are adequate as a meal and much cheaper then the dinners.

House of BluesBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

This place was a blast. The food was excellent and the live blues band was spectacular. The service was top notch and the atmosphere was interesting. It's a must for anyone who is musically inclined or enjoys a good mix. The food is Cajun/southern. You have to try the corn pudding (bread).

Fulton's Crab HouseBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

This is a very fine restaurant on an old riverboat. The atmosphere is great and the food is top notch. The service was some of the best we'd ever had. Have your cocktails on the outdoor bow deck and feast up in the top lounge. The local yellowtail was great, as were the oysters. You've got to try it if you are in Downtown Disney.
