Day Trip to Savannah

A March 2004 trip to Savannah by Muckler

Quote: My sister-in-law and I spent the day exploring Savannah while our husbands golfed. They joined us for dinner and an evening ghost walking tour. We had a very pleasant day and really needed more time to see eveything Savannah has to offer.

Outback Steakhouse

Restaurant | "Outback Steak House"

Quote:
The food at the Outback was the same quality as the other Outback restaurants where we have eaten. The steak was cooked to each person's liking and the Alice Springs Chicken is always to die for. The service was very good. We did not have to wait, as we were there when the doors opened at 5pm. I would anticipate a wait during the heavy tourist season.

Ghosts of Savannah

Attraction

Quote:
We took a ghost walk tour with "The Ghosts of Savannah" Tour Company. The tour guide did an excellent job for a cold, rainy night. Unfortunately, no ghosts were encountered (that we know of). This is an eight-block walking tour, which does not include the cemetery. Be sure and take a jacket, as it can be chilly and possibly rainy. Also, calling ahead for reservations is required. When you make the reservation, make sure you show up. If you don’t, they will charge your credit card regardless.

Savannah Trolley Tours

Attraction | "Trolley Tour of Savannah"

Quote:
We spent a day in Savannah and enjoyed a 1.5-hour trolley tour on the Old Savannah Trolley. It is worth your time to take a guided tour, as the tour guide often shares information that you wouldn't necessarily know if taking a self-guided walking tour. We chose to stay on the tour from start to finish, but had the option of getting off at any of the stops. You can then go back and revisit any particular areas of interests. Many of the stops were at buildings that had additional fees to tour.

Shopping!

Attraction | "Shopping in Savannah"

Quote:
There are many interesting shops on River Street. We had lunch at Spanky’s on River Street and it was very good. There is parking along River Street. There is a machine that you deposit money into to purchase a block of parking time. The machine prints out a ticket and you display in on the dashboard of your vehicle. Parking is free in those parking lots after 5pm.
