A February 2004 trip to Tobago Cays by Discerning

Beachside holiday between sea and airport runway. We stayed at Sandy Point Beach Club, Crown Pointe, a family run resort with friendly staff but basic accommodations that needs attention. It appeared to be the poorest resort in the area.

Overview

The boat trip was fun. Visit Ru-B-Louis for excellent evening meals and Bonkers as a good second choice. Argylle waterfall is worth a visit.

Quick Tips:

Locate Pennywise (supermarket) for a good selection of groceries. Pack suitable plimmies for wearing in sea, rocks, and sharp coral to negotiate.

Best Way To Get Around:

Hire car preferable to tour the island for individual freedom.
Best Things Nearby:
Some of the beaches. The airport if you’re a plane spotter! Ru-B-Loui's restaurant and Bonkers restaurant and entertainment.

Best Things About the Resort:
The friendliness of the staff. The flora of the grounds. The pool.

Resort Experience:
The unit was too small and sparsely furnished for two adult couples. One couple had to walk through the other’s sleeping accommodation to go to the bathroom. Not ideal! Only two easy chairs provided though no room for any more. Kitchen was small with very basic equipment. Balcony very tiny. Cleaning of accommodation was good.

No choices. Just one set menu at lunchtime and dinner. Odd combinations of food that were not particularly palatable. I did not try breakfasts. We ate there twice then ate off site for the rest of the holiday.
