The condo was a little run down, but the location was good for us: right on the beach. It was on a fairly quiet stretch of beach, but a only a short drive to dining and other activities. Each unit has at least one bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. They have units as large as 8 bedrooms that sleep up to 8 people. There was one indoor and one outdoor pool and two tennis courts. There was a gift shop which had beach items and VCRs/movies to rent and a restaurant and ice cream shop in the complex. Andy's Cheesesteaks & Cheeseburgers

Restaurant | "Andy's Cheesesteaks & Cheeseburgers "

I'm not sure that this can be qualified as a "dining experience," but they serve up mighty good burgers and fries here. There are actually two locations in the vicinity of Topsail beach, but I believe the Surf City location is the closer one to the condo. The kids meals come in a paperboard antique car that younger kids really get a charge out of, and it's a much more pleasant dining experience than a Burger King or McDonalds. It's a burger worth the fat and calories.

Obviously it's more scenic at sunrise and sunset, but it's a nice little side trip any time of day. When we visited there were plenty of fish that had been caught to look at, including a remora. Fisherfolk are generally very friendly and happy to chat with a new person (as long as they are not in the middle of pulling in a big one). The pier hosts fishing tournament at various times of the year and is apparently packed at those times. Ticket cost is nominal for visitors, more for fisherman. It also ...Read More
