A February 2004 trip to St. Thomas by James Kerr

Quote: We went on two day sails during a weeks stay in St. Thomas. I would recommend each of these sails to anyone going to the US Virgin Islands.

Limnos Charters has a wonderful day trip on a 53-foot catamaran to the Baths at Virgin Gorda, and an afternoon snorkel off Norman Island. The power catamaran made a smooth trip thru Francis Drake Channel to Spanish Town on Virgin Gorda, where several buses wait to take you to the large rock formations at the Baths. Spend about an hour climbing and swimming at this beach. Have a little time to shop at the marina before heading to Norman Island. This day sail is very relaxing and makes two stops for snorkeling. There is lots of shade or sun on the sloop. The ship tacks smoothly thru the Pillsbury Sound to Honeymoon Beach on the northwest corner of St. John Island, where you snokel around reefs just off the beach.

A buffet lunch is served on the afternoon sail to Grand St. James Island, where once again you can snorkel and see many beautiful fish. The buffet lunch is great and drinks are served by the crew all day. Makes for an outstanding day sail for the entire family. I would highly recommend this trip. Call 1-800-808-7604 to book ahead of time. It can also be booked on the Internet. The cost is $95/person.
