El Yunque Rain forest

A travel journal to San Juan by mannyb

The only rain forest in the US Forest service. Great place to spend a day.

There are a few waterfalls in the main road, while on set paths there are small ponds to swim around in.

Quick Tips:

Go early and pack plenty of food. It is off the beaten path. Bring good walking shoes; the walk to the summit is very long but worth it. There are maps to show you around and it is very well signed.

Best Way To Get Around:

It is like one hour east of San Juan. You can either join a group or drive yourself. Going by yourself is the best bet.

It is such a change of pace. You will be one with nature. Very nice place to spend a day. There are small food stands on the main road and plenty of picnic areas on the main paths.
