Resort Experience:
I had skied in Vermont and New Hampshire, but had only skied one weekend in Quebec (north of Quebec City). We could not have picked a better location. Mount Orford was within a five- to 10-minute drive. The varied terrain of the mountain provided challenge to all levels of skier. The new gondola hybrid (you have a choice of riding open chair or enclosed gondola), gets you to the summit in less than five minutes.
Owl's Head, approximately 35 minutes from the resort, offers a beautiful view of Lake Memorphamagog and offers the best value in skiing I have come across in years. The wide, rolling slopes provide the beginner skier with a great opportunity to work on technique while the upper mountain offers the intermediate and advanced skier the challenges they seek. We were able to ski all day for CD$15 on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Mont Sutton was the cap to the week. This resort offered many trails through the glades and the upper mountain was a great challenge to the expert skier.
While there were several great restaurants, I would have to mention Patrick at Au Graduvent. The French cuisine was prepared from mostly local ingredients; in fact, many ingredients were raised/grown by Patrick and his family on the adjoining farm. Bring your own wine to make it a very special night. Highly recommended!
