An August 2003 trip to Kauai by AngelaMHaven

Quote: The beaches of Kauai are so different! Around the Poipu/Lihue area it's drier and not as lush! Around Princeville the beaches are more lush!!

Zebos is a great dining experience located in Hanalei outside of Princeville. The menu is very local with lots of fresh fish! You have inside and outside dining - make sure to try their mai-tais!

Every meal comes with hummus and pita bread - it's fresh and made daily!

Ke'e Beach Best of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Beaches of Kauai"

Quote:
Ke'e Beach is what you think of Hawaii! It's very lush and tropical. This is a perfect beach for kids, since the water is very calm. Also, this is a great spot to snorkel - there is a coral reef that borders the entire beach and you can see amazing fish! If you go over the reef to the deeper water, sea turtles are abundant! Water goes from a few feet to very deep, so be careful! Also be careful of the surf - it can get rough with the water coming over the reef. This beach is at the end of the road past Hanalei; you have the start of the Na Pali coast and great hiking trails. Get here early, because there are not a lot of parking spaces. One great thing is all the wild roosters and hens running around!

Holipale Beach Best of IgoUgo

Attraction

Quote:
This beach is located at the end of an abandoned sugarcane field. You will drive through the sugarcane field; keep driving and you will get to the beach - it will feel like you are driving in circles ( that's the way we felt, but you will get there). Once you do, it's an amazing sight! You are at the beginning of the Na Pali coast on the southern end. It's much hotter on this coast vs. the northern end. The surf is rough here, so if you are not a strong swimmer, watch from the sand! The waves are good for body-surfing! This beach is reported to be haunted. You can also camp here - make sure to get a permit!
