The Best of Cozumel

Overview

Quote:
The residents of the island have a festival every Sunday night. They come to the town square with their children, visit the vendors and listen to local musicians. The island has wonderful markets filled with artisans selling textiles, clothes, jewelry, and pottery. You can get great deals there if you know one when you see one! There are local bakeries just a few blocks from the main thoroughfare, as well as more shops to buy local fare. The island's museum is a don't miss. The island has a wonderful history that is beautifully represented in the artifacts and exhibits at the museum.Quick Tips: I recommend that you plan to spend most of your time out of your hotel room! Bahia

Hotel

We love staying at the Bahia. It is a quick cab ride from the airport. It is located downtown, above the KFC, on the only main thoroughfare that Cozumel has. Because of its central location, you feel a part of the laid-back going ons of the city, but still maintain a sense of privacy. Ocean side rooms have balconies, and some balconies actually 'wrap-around' from one side of the room to the other. And you can't beat the cool, ocean breeze that comes across the balcony in the mornings! Some rooms have jacuzzi tubs and kitchenettes. We love the kitchenettes because we make our own breakfast before heading out for the day, having purchased a few food items from the local grocery. We keep between-meal ...Read More

Tony Rome's

Restaurant

Quote:
Tony's is a 'don't miss.' He is the island's resident Perry Como, a generous host, and oh, serves great ribs! He enjoys his karaoke machine almost as much as his guests enjoy him using the karaoke machine! (We get to use it too!) Once you visit Tony's, you're family, and he never lets you forget it. The food is wonderful-fresh seafood and tender ribs- all well-seasoned with generous portions. He seves Mexican and American food also. The service is unparalled, because the only thing that will keep Tony away from your tableside, is if he's off the island. He's there to make sure all is right and that you are pleased.

Discover Dive Cozumel

Best Of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Discover Dive Shop"

Quote:
Discover offers very personalized service and does not operate 'cattle boats.' I've rarely been on a boat with more than 10 divers, unless they were all in my group! Discover is a laid-back and friendly operation, without compromising a bit of professionalism. Marcela is a serious diver and business-woman, who is as professional an owner as any I've ever met. She pays great attention to detail and has always made sure our dives were fun and SAFE. In my experience, all the I's were dotted and the T's were crossed before we stepped foot on her boats. Once on, the ride was great. Several of the boats have upper decks on which to lay out during the trip to the first site. During the surface interval, we...Read More

Chankanaab National Marine Park

Attraction | "Chankanaab State Lagoon"

Quote:
Accessible by cab from either downtown or northern/southern resorts, Chankanaab Lagoon is a great place to hang out for the day. This beach is a very popular family spot, but in my experience, has never been over-croweded. But you do want to get there early to get the best spot! Take a towel, a great book, sunblock and sand-proof your CD player. Also take plenty of cash. The restaurant is a tad-bit pricey, but unless you pack a lunch, it's the only game around. Chankanaab is a day-trip and well-worth it.
