Best Things Nearby:We took a ride to Key West - it is about 100 miles. It is a nice ride with beautiful views of the Gulf and Ocean. It took us about 3 hours due to traffic. We visited Ernest Hemingway’s house and enjoyed it - the narrative on the tour was very good. It was worth the $10.00 fee. Key West is not the same - it is packed with tourists from the cruise boats; we could not enjoy the shopping areas due to the crowds. The cruise boats come in and drop off over 1000 people. They are everywhere.Best Things About the Resort:The location - it is next to the first bridge into the gulf side. We love to watch the boats go by. The last time we were here, we saw all of the ...Read More

The Zane Grey Lounge is on the balcony of the World Wide Sportsman Center. The view of the Gulf is wonderful especially at sunset.

After visiting and shopping the adjacent store, it is great place to have a drink and appetizer. I recommend the smoked fish spread. They also have a full menu if you desire.

The shop is great. They have everything that you could imagine: a full line of fishing gear and name brand clothing.

The boat that Ernest Hemingway used while his boat was being built is on display in the store. You can actually board the boat and look it over. The restoration is perfect.

Kelly's Caribbean Bar Grill & Brewery

Kelly’s is owned by actress Kelly McGillis.

We ate outside. My wife had a Seared Tuna Salad that was very good. I had a pulled pork sandwich that was very good. The atmosphere was casual; if you like beer, they have an all-natural choice brewed on site.

Buzzard's Roost Grill & Pub

Restaurant | "The Buzzard's Roost"

Quote:
The Buzzard’s Roost is a little difficult to find. The road is after the circle K gas station - look for an old car that has a buzzard on top of it; that will lead you to the road. It is located next to a mariner.

We enjoyed the cob salad. It is huge and is available with chicken or grilled fish.

You may dine indoors, where it is air-conditioned, or outdoors in a screened-in area. They also have an outdoor tiki bar with outdoor dining next to the waterway.

The menu has plenty to choose from and the portions are large.

Snapper’s is our favorite restaurant on the Keys. The best day to go is on Sunday for the brunch, or regular menu. They only have entertainment on Sunday. Be sure to call in and request a reservation for a waterside table, as the place will be packed.

The food is very good, especially the almond-encrusted yellowtail. You can feed the Wild Tarpon from fish food available. The Tarpon that come in are huge - 4 to 6 feet long. If you have a boat, dockage is available.

The Latin American restaurant is located next door to the Anchorage Condos. It is very clean inside and the staff is polite. They have the best Cuban sandwich, and it is only $6 and large enough for two people. They also have two-for-one drinks all day on Thursday and every afternoon starting at 3pm.

It is so handy right next door to the condo. They also have a store that has beer and some wine, fishing supplies, boat rentals, and snacks.
