Our perfect honeymoon in Kauai followed a gorgeous sunset wedding on Maui.

How Romantic!
This resort is at the "end of the road". The next thing past it is a gorgeous golf course and access to a quiet, yet populated beach. There is a restaurant/snack/shopping area within walking distance that has many choices and great places.

The common areas are absolutely stunning! The lobby/entry area is completely open air and allows you to see from the front door area all the way to the ocean. There are lush plants and authentic Hawaiian decorations as well as comfortable furniture to lounge. There are wonderful rooms, most with an amazing view. The spa is superb and full of wonderful choices for treatments or workouts.

This is what I would want my house to be like, if I lived in the tropics. The grounds are impeccably maintained and full of things to see and do. There is a waterslide for the kids, a free-form pool with grass deck and bridges and koi ponds all over the place. You can sit at lunch and watch the fish play in the water below you. The view down the coast is wonderful.

The rooms were nicely furnished and maintained. There is a bathtub/shower combo and a separate toilet area with a door. There is also a big mirror with shelving on either side for stuff.

We had a problem with extra towels not being delivered quickly and the manager sent up a huge fruit basket the next day apologizing for it. It was truly a full-service thing to do. Go. . . you won't be disappointed.

Waimea Canyon

Activity

Gorgeous!
This natural formation is so amazing that I can't even accurately describe it. I have been to the Grand Canyon many times and loved it, but this is so much more amazing. The rock formations and colors are fabulous, and the lushness of the surrounding areas make it that much more amazing. The canyon seems to go deeper into the earth than you can imagine -- it is actually 10 miles long, one mile wide, and 3,500 feet deep. To think it is on islands that were formed by volcanoes makes it truly a wonder. There are sulfur springs all around, which smell awful, but are beautiful to see; the surrounding forest area and drive are sights to see as well.

The canyon is part of a state park and maps can be found at the ranger station for both driving and hiking. There is camping available at Koke'e Campground as well as cabins.

Allow a day to drive, hike, and see the many angles, but take snacks and lunch because there are great picnic places, but not many restaurants or watering places around. There is no gas station either, so be sure to get gas when you leave your resort. There aren't lots of stations around the island once you get away from the main areas. A Jeep is a definite plus for this trip -- the wind in your hair makes for a great trip!
