Overview

Cancun is surrounded by Caribbean beaches and also features great shopping, snorkeling, scuba diving, nature exploring, sightseeing, fine dining, and (after kids go to bed) nightlife! It's a great opportunity to learn about other cultures by visiting and staying at the Riviera Maya.

Quick Tips:

Xcaret: this is one of the places I like most because of the underground rivers and the pre-Hispanic night ball game.

La Isla: a good place for shopping at really low prices.

The interactive aquarium at La Isla: you'll learn a lot about sea life and if you're brave enough, you can feed a shark!!

Johnny Rocket’s: this is my favorite place for cheeseburgers and chili.

Best Way To Get Around:

I don’t recommend taking taxis because they are really expensive. If you have enough time, I recommend taking a walk -- everything is nearby. You can also take the bus -- it goes both ways along the strip and there is only one street, so you can take the bus to go anywhere in Cancun for just , which is a lot cheaper than a cab.

Best Things Nearby:
It's centrally located. About eight blocks away, there's a mall ("La Ista"), the riverwalk, shopping, food, theatre, and an interactive aquarium. About two more blocks away, there's "Kukulkan Plaza" (shopping). About five blocks in the other direction, there’s all the restaurants and nightclubs, and three more blocks away is "Plaza Caracol" (shopping).

Best Things About the Resort:
The best things are the location and the beach (not rocky and shallow, private and clean). At the "Chiquita Banana" restaurant you can have a dinner overlooking the sea!

Resort Experience:
It's kind of an old resort. It's a nice one, centrally located. Not even that it's a small resort -- it's well known and it's got a nice beach!

The best area of the resort is the Chiquita Banana restaurant. They need more variety on the menu for they restaurants as well as more seafood, but that's fine for a family vacation anyway -- you won't spend that much time at the unit.

The only problem with this resort in my experience and the reason why I wouldn't recommend it is because when they sell the all-inclusive they mention a lot of benefits --that are not true -- but they don't mention restrictions. You'll need to attend a sales presentation, be over 25, have a credit card, and pay 50% of the service you'll take -- that's really upsetting when you notice that and the worst is that nobody faces it!!!!

Restaurant

This is kind of an "oldies but goodies" place like in the '60s with music and all! There are cheeseburgers, cherry cokes, malts, and my favorites--chilli beans.

Attraction | "Shopping"

There are a lot of brand-name retailers, and the best part of this is that there are some stablishments that are duty free, so you can get very good prices on shopping for some, like D & G, Tommy Hilfiger, Mossimo, DKNY, Nike, etc.

Attraction

What I liked most was the Pueblo Maya because it shows more about another civilization-the way they used to built their homes is amazing! One thing that I would like to recommend is the coral reef walk-they'll put you in some kind of helmet and a pair of boots and you'll be able to take a walk through the reef!
